Testing

We offer free testing for people in our community who are most affected by HIV/AIDS.

High risk populations include:

People who are gay and bisexual men
Men who have sex with men (MSM) and their sexual partners
People who inject drugs (PWID) and their sexual partners
Transgender people
People who exchange sex for drugs, money, or shelter
Sexual partners of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH/A)

Services

Testing and counseling is offered to the people in our community most affected by HIV/AIDS. We recommend that high-risk populations test for HIV every 3-6 months.

UMA offers the following HIV test:

Uni-Gold rapid test: results in 10 minutes

OraQuick Rapid Test: results in 20 minutes

Uni-gold is a rapid HIV finger prick whole blood antibody test. Results are available in 10 minutes. This test

is produced by Trinity Biotech.

OraQuick Rapid Test is also an oral antibody test. Rapid test results are available in 20 minutes.This test is Produced by Orasure technologies.

We are excited to offer rapid HIV Testing for gay and bisexual men, other men who have sex with men (MSM), and sexual partners of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Results are over 99% accurate.
If a result is “reactive” the result is considered to be a “preliminary positive” and an additional confirmatory test is needed.
UMA provides a referral to get a confirmatory test done.
